​The testing needs for our clients can vary considerably.  Some require standard in vitro safety tests for irritation or phototoxicity, others may require screening for a specific biologic effect.  And still others may have a novel, untested material and want to know if it can be beneficial in a cosmetic or pharmaceutical application.   BioInnovation Laboratories can help with all of these needs, and much more.   While our standard testing protocols can cover many of your needs, feel free to contact us if your needs go beyond our standard sets of assays.  Our standard testing capabilities include:

Safety Testing

Safety Testing: Tests for dermal and ocular irritation, along with phototoxicity testing.

Air Pollution Protection

​Air Pollution Protection: Assays to measure air pollution mediated cell damage and how materials can protect against this damage.

ECM Components

Collagen, Elastin and Hyaluronic Acid Testing: The main targets for most cosmetic, personal healthcare, and specialty chemicals.  Additional dermal components are also targets of interest and can provide additional benefits for cosmetic claims.

Pigmentation Assays

Pigmentation Assays: Assays for changes in melanin content or synthesis, either in cultured melanocytes, 3D tissues, or isolated enzyme systems.

Lipid Uptake/Release Assays

Lipid Uptake/Release Assays:  Assays which screen for the effect of your material on lipid uptake or release using cells which accumulate large amounts of lipids such as adipocytes and sebocytes.

Anti-Aging Assays

Anti-Aging Assays:  Assays which cover the impact of aging on cellular proliferation, ECM component production, pigmentation, and mitochondrial function.

Advanced Glycation End Products:  Assays to determine if a material can prevent AGEs formation or remove existing AGEs modifications in target proteins.

DNA Microarrays

DNA Microarrays:  Assays to examine the impact of materials on the expression of ~20,000 human genes.

Epigenetic Analysis

Epigenetic Assays: Assays pertaining to global DNA methylation, specific gene methylation, and histone modification.

Proteostasis Assays: Assays examining protein expression, protein synthesis, and protein degradation.
